Detroit The Ghost Town
It is quite sad to read the many stories on the Car Forums or to see the television pictures of the ghost town that is Detroit. The city is, or should I say was the centre of the massive global business of GM. GM motors was an icon not only within the USA but also worldwide. They are the business behind such names as Opel, Vauxhall and Saab. Incredibly though they have gone to ruin and it is sad because it is a reflection of the way the auto industry as a whole is suffering. There is light at the end of the tunnel as companies like GM receive government help in restructuring but it is little use to the back streets of those that live in Detroit.
