Many lumber companies today have committed to the practice of sustainable forestry. In order to find out whether you’re working with one or not, one of the questions to ask them is if they are practicing selective logging. Selective logging is the act of carefully selecting which trees to cut so as not to hinder the growth of new trees. Another question to ask is if they are replacing the trees they cut. Ideally, they should replace one tree with five new ones every time. These are just some of the information you need to find out to make sure you are buying wood from a responsible lumber company.
