rms titanic

Captain Smith had sailed through Atlantic for over 26 years and this voyage to New York was set to be his last one before he retired. He was the senior Captain with Whitestar Line and also the most highly paid captain in the North Atlantic. On the fateful night the seas was calm and it was dark though the temperatures in the water had dropped below 10 degrees. Aboard RMS Titanic, little could be done to save the ship and the last attempt by the captain to change the course of the ship was late and due to the high speed he was sailing the ship on, it hit the iceberg, leading to some of the compartments overflowing with water and this led to the sinking of RMS Titanic.
