Women’s long coats, women’s trench coats

As the very helpful shop assistant took payment for her new denim jacket, Paola  wondered what a handsome man like him was doing working in a women’s long coats department. It crossed her mind that he was probably gay, or if not, he was probably desperate. There weren’t that many jobs around these days and he couldn’t possibly have chosen to work someone like this. It did not cross her mind at all that he could be desperate to find a girlfriend, as he more than likely had a string of them, if he wasn’t gay that is. His colleagues were mostly over 60 and for some strange reason they kept sniggering in the background. Paola thought this most rude, but decided that it was not about her and much more likely that they were choking on their dentures or a piece of food. She decided to ignore it as this was turning out to be a most pleasant shopping trip. She was beginning to rather like this handsome young man and thought that perhaps she might ask him out for a date. It had been a while since her and Richard had split up and she was beginning to feel like she could get back out there. It had been rather fortuitous that she had decided to wear that leather jacket today that his friend Mario had made for her when they lived in Milan. She had not wanted to wear it for a long time, but wearing it today was a good sign that things were now falling back into place and that Richard was well and truly out of her mind, and how funny that a girl should spill coffee on it of all things. She had even made a new friend who she was rather looking forward to seeing again on Monday. As she was leaving and had said goodbye and thank you, she could help but think there was something she had to do. She started to walk out but stopped at the women’s trench coats pretending to look at one, as she made up her mind about what to do.
