When you are teaching english in asia make sure that you take advantage of the location that you are in. Try not to run yourself down during the week because then you won’t have enough energy to go sightseeing on the weekends. If you see something, like a particular dish that you have never seen before, then make a conscience effort to try it! Trying something new is what makes these teaching positions fun. It’ll also allow for you to become closer to your students in class because you can talk with them about the particular dish, or activity that you tried over the weekend. They might even be able to tell you what fun activities are in the area. The more you open up to your students the more interested they will be in their studies and the more success there will be in the classroom. It will also give you something to practice talking about with your students. That way you don’t always have to work directly out of a text book.
